Neck Pain
Acute neck pain is characterized by severe and/or disabling pain in the neck. Its causes and symptoms are diverse.
Among the most common causes we may find :
-
Anxiety, bad posture at work or during leisure time.
-
In the elderly: joint degeneration, such as osteoarthritis, reducing neck mobility.
-
Torticollis corresponding to an episode of acute pain, begins suddenly, often at night. It is usually linked to a sudden movement or a bad position held for too long. It causes sharp pain and significant loss of mobility in the neck.
Why consult a chiropractor?
After an interrogation and a precise physical examination, and if necessary after presentation of medical imaging, the chiropractor is likely to provide mobilizations or spinal manipulations, called chiropractic adjustments. These techniques improve the mobility of the cervical spine and reduce feelings of tension and pain.
The chiropractor also offers rehabilitation exercises. Provides postural advice likely to prevent a new painful episode.
Depending on your specific symptoms and pathologies, your chiropractor can suggest a stretching or strengthening protocol adapted to your needs.
